Dr JP George

John P. George, MD has been in private practice for 31 years after attending the University of Georgia, the Medical College of Georgia. He completed his orthopedic residency at St Vincent’s hospital in New York City and two fellowships one in adult reconstruction at the New England Baptist Hospital and the second in Sports Medicine at the University of Alabama under Drs. Larry Lemak and Jim Andrews.

Dr. George is a founding partner of Optim Orthopedics, serving as the managing partner for 15 years. He also founded and was the general partner for Optim Healthcare which includes the surgery center in Savannah, Tatnall Medical center, a regional orthopedic hospital in Reidsville, Georgia as well as Optim Imaging and two other Optim hospitals in Sylvania and Millen, Georgia until 2015. He is the past Chairman of the Department of Surgery at St. Joseph’s hospital in Savannah. Currently as founder of St. Joseph/Candler hospital Sports Medicine department he is the current Medical Director. Dr. George has served civic functions on the Boards of the Georgia Southern Foundation, Bethesda Academy, and the Jenkins Boys club.

Doris K Cope MD

Doris K. Cope, MD has devoted her professional life to the evaluation and treatment of chronic pain. She completed her Master of Science degree in Psychology from Augusta University and her MD degree from the Medical College of Georgia and her Anesthesiology residency at the University of South Alabama and pain training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. 

Dr. Cope served for 16 years as a Professor and Vice-Chairman, Director of Interdisciplinary Pain Program for Pain Research, Education and Clinical Care at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles, a textbook, and has lectured widely both in the US and internationally. She directed the largest pain fellowship in the country training over 120 pain fellows. Most recently she treated patients in Annapolis MD in the largest pain practice in that state. She has served as a Board examiner, State representative to the AMA, Medical Advisory Board of Best Doctors, on the boards of the Anesthesia Foundation and WLM of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and as President of the Academy of Anesthesiology.
